Special health camp on anaemia screening held at Pungro CHC

DIMAPUR:

A special health camp on anaemia screening was conducted on April 6 at Pungro CHC under Kiphire district, organised by Nature SBI Foundation Nagaland under its SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels initiative.
During the camp, services including anaemia screening, general health check-up, diabetes check, doctor consultation and laboratory tests were conducted. The lab tests covered ABO grouping, HIV/SYP, HB%, RBS, scrub typhus and malaria screening.
The medical team was led by Dr. Siku from Pungro CHC and Dr. Lillio from Nature SBI Foundation, assisted by nurses and technicians. A total of 132 beneficiaries attended the camp, with 17 individuals undergoing laboratory tests including RBS, malaria parasite (MP) and scrub typhus screening. Speaking at the programme, Longtili C. Sangtam, Project Lead of Nature SBI Foundation Nagaland, expressed gratitude to Dr. Siku and the CHC team for their support. He also acknowledged the International Border Area People’s Welfare Organisation (IBAPWO), led by N. Apong, for mobilising the community and extending assistance. He noted that such initiatives were bringing tangible benefits to the people.
Highlighting project progress, Sangtam informed that during March, 160 lab tests were conducted, 115 MOPD cases recorded, and 1,416 beneficiaries served. The team also organised two awareness camps, one sanitation drive and one specialist health camp.
N. Apong, chief functionary of IBAPWO, said that in collaboration with Nature SBI Foundation, a free medical camp was organised at Pungro CHC where patients were thoroughly examined and provided free medicines. The programme, organisers stated, reflects continued efforts to strengthen healthcare access in remote regions and support community well-being.
