Manipur lift NECDC U19 men’s title

Manipur clinched the title in the 4th NECDC Inter State Friendship Cup Men’s U19 Final with a resounding 72-run victory over Mizoram at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Chumoukedima. A composed batting display followed by disciplined bowling sealed a memorable triumph for the young side.
Manipur, asked to bat first, posted 233 runs in 49.5 overs. Lucky Thockchom anchored the innings with a fluent 72 off 82 balls, while Robinson Sougaijam contributed a patient 62 off 122 deliveries. Mizoram’s Henry Lallawmzuala was the pick of the bowlers, claiming 4 wickets for 35 runs to keep his team in contention.
In reply, Mizoram faltered under pressure and were bowled out for 161 in 43.1 overs. Lalramluahpuia Zote offered resistance with a fighting 62 off 59 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Manipur’s bowlers shared the spoils, with Yumnam Chingkheinganba (2/21), Mutual Swabhiman Singh (2/33), and Naeesh (2/24) delivering crucial breakthroughs.
Player of the Match was awarded to Lucky Thockchom (72 off 82 balls).
Player of the Tournament award was bagged by Naesh Hussain (Manipur); Best Batter by Max Warokpam Meitei (Manipur); Best Bowler by Henry Lallawmzuala (Mizoram); Best Wicketkeeper by Mohammed Anush (Manipur).
Mizoram clinch NECDC U23 women’s title with narrow win over Nagaland
Mizoram emerged champions of the NECDC U23 Women’s Interstate Tournament 2026 after edging past Nagaland by 7 runs in a tense, low-scoring final at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo.
Opting to field first, Nagaland restricted Mizoram to 75 all out in 20 overs. Vanlalruatpull top-scored with 16 off 21 balls, while Nagaland’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout. Sariba Khan (2/4 in 4 overs) and Vipeni Awomi (2/10 in 4 overs) were particularly effective in dismantling Mizoram’s batting lineup.
Chasing 76 for victory, Nagaland looked poised to take the title but faltered under Mizoram’s disciplined bowling attack. Najmeen fought hard with 25 off 32 balls, supported by Vipeni Awomi’s 13 off 15, but the side was bowled out for 68 in 17.5 overs.
The standout performer was Mizoram’s Hmangaihsangi Syhlo, who delivered a decisive spell of 4/15 in 4 overs, breaking through Nagaland’s batting resistance and sealing the win. Her match-winning effort earned her the Player of the Match award.
With this victory, Mizoram secured the championship in a thrilling finale, while Nagaland finished as commendable runners-up after a spirited campaign.
