The monthly SDPDB meeting of Bhandari sub-division was held at the Conference Hall of the Summer House-Cum-Guest House on April 10, 2026, under the chairmanship of SDPDB Bhandari chairman, Achumbemo Kikon MLA.
According to DIPR report, Extra Additional Commissioner and secretary SDPDB Bhandari, Kilangtemsu, set the tone by reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting. Welcoming newly posted officers to Bhandari, Achumbemo emphasised the proactive role of the government in the construction of the Nagaland Foothill Road, its progress and expected timeline for completion.
He highlighted road specifics and projected costs for the remaining stretch of about 105 kms under Bhandari sub-division, while urging landowners, public leaders and tribal leaders to extend cooperation for smooth execution of works that could qualify the road for National Highway status.
Power Department, Electrical Division Wokha, sensitised members on the phase-wise installation of smart prepaid metering under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). Er. Vungthungo L. Murry, SDO Electrical Sanis, called upon village chairmen, gaonburas and councillors from Baghty, Merapani and Bhandari areas to educate consumers on shifting from conventional meters to prepaid smart meters. He outlined benefits including cheaper tariffs, hassle-free billing, energy consumption awareness, convenient recharge facilities and reduction of power theft. He informed that the first phase would cover government offices and quarters, followed by business establishments and commercial consumers, with the rest to be completed within a set timeframe.
Meanwhile, executive members of the Lotha Officers Association, Wokha unit, led by president Er. S. Benrio Kithan, attended the meeting and handed over wheelchairs to CHC Bhandari as part of its ‘Reach Out’ initiative. The team also interacted with Bhandari-based officers for better coordination.
Highlighting healthcare needs, Achumbemo stressed the urgent requirement of posting a Senior Medical Officer at CHC Bhandari following the recent transfer of the incumbent.
