Assam Rifles host women entrepreneurs’ exhibition, lecture

Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Pink Blossom Society, organised a two-day “Women Entrepreneurs Pop-Up Stalls Exhibition” at Jalukie town, Peren district. The event showcased diverse initiatives and traditional craftsmanship by women entrepreneurs, including crochet handicrafts, handmade jewellery, woven jackets and mufflers, dried flower bouquets, local plants, wild fruits, handmade toys and local cuisine. Assam Rifles personnel emphasised the importance of pursuing passion and hard work, describing the exhibition as a vital platform for local entrepreneurs to gain recognition and transform skills into sustainable livelihoods.
In a separate programme, Assam Rifles conducted a motivational lecture for troops at Chieswema Garrison, Kohima district, on April 11. The session was delivered by Col. R.K. Sharma, KC, SC, SM (Retd), a decorated veteran of the Indian Army and former Assam Rifles officer. Drawing from his operational experiences in Op Vijay, Op Parakram, Op Bajrang, Op Hifazat and Op Rakshak, Sharma underscored leadership under challenging conditions, resilience, discipline and teamwork as key to operational success. His address inspired troops and reinforced the ethos of service before self.
Meanwhile, on April 9, Assam Rifles organised another motivational lecture for troops of Kohima Garrison at the Motivational Hall. Col. Sharma urged personnel to uphold discipline and mental toughness while remaining steadfast in their duties. The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from all ranks.
On the same day, Assam Rifles hosted six newly commissioned young officers (YOs) of the Assam Regiment at Kohima Garrison as part of their orientation training. The officers paid homage to fallen soldiers during a wreath-laying ceremony at the War Memorial of the Assam Regiment, conducted with full military honours. They were also taken for local sightseeing and briefed on the historic Battle of Kohima, reinforcing the regiment’s legacy of courage and sacrifice.
