NFHRCC keeps proposed agitation in abeyance

Nagaland Foothills Road Co-Ordination Committee (NFHRCC) has decided to keep in abeyance the proposed phase-wise agitation, which was scheduled to begin from April 15 in Dimapur, following a request from the Nagaland Apex Tribal Hohos.
According to a resolution adopted at a consultative meeting held at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur on April 14, attended by stakeholders along with the Nagaland Apex Tribal Hohos, the house unanimously resolved to defer the agitation for the time being.
The meeting, described as a marathon consultative session, deliberated on issues related to the proposed upgradation of the Nagaland Foothill Road to a two-lane National Highway.
As per the resolutions, NFHRCC stated that it would continue to remain a “watchdog” on the upgradation of the foothill road to two-lane NH status in view of the no-objection certificate (NOC) issued by the Apex Tribal Hohos.
The house also resolved to urge the state government to publicly explain the revised administrative approval amounting to Rs. 43077.84 lakh (Rs. 430.77 crore), which it stated was meant for Foothill Road construction.
Further, NFHRCC appealed to the public to remain prepared for resumption of agitation in the event the government fails to fulfil or satisfy the aspirations of the Naga public.
