Advisor of Printing & Stationery and Prisons, Er. Kropol Vitsu, and chairman DPDB Kohima, Kevipodi Sophie graced the golden jubilee celebration of V&V Club at Bamboo Hall, Kisama, on Saturday.
In his address, Er. Kropol described V&V Club as one of the most respected and accomplished clubs in the Southern Angami region. He recalled that the region was once renowned for its strong sense of youth camaraderie and unity, during which time the club had come into existence. Er. Kropol noted that villages under Japfüphiki region had earlier been united and disciplined, and called upon members to aspire to regain that reputation.
Pointing out that Nagaland has numerous organisations with differing visions and motivations, the advisor highlighted that V&V Club, being a registered body functioning under the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO), required the full support of its members. He urged them to contribute actively to the welfare of the club, irrespective of assigned responsibilities, stating that such collective efforts would ultimately benefit the wider community.
Extending golden jubilee greetings, DPDB Kohima chairman Kevipodi Sophie remarked that 50 years marked a significant milestone in the life of any individual or institution.
He noted that the club was established with the primary objective of coming together to support the people. However, he observed that the organisation had not fully achieved its intended goals and stressed the need to formulate concrete plans to better serve the community.
SAPO president Tepul Hopovi, in a brief address, said that attaining 50 years was a stage often regarded as a peak period of leadership and experience. He urged members to utilise their maturity to foster unity and bring people closer together.
Delivering the jubilee message, convenor of the golden jubilee committee, Nosazol Charles, traced the club’s origins to 1976, when strong bonds of friendship among like-minded individuals from Southern Angami villages gave rise to the organisation. He highlighted the club’s inclusivity, drawing members from nearly all 13 villages of the region, and said its strength lay in collective effort. Charles expressed confidence that the club would continue to undertake welfare initiatives.
The programme was graced by patrons Vilelie Khamo, contractor and Vizoto Seletsu, executive engineer, Tourism Department. Earlier, the formal programme was chaired by member secretary of the jubilee committee, Vilekho Bio. Invocation was pronounced by Rev. Fr. Leo Chase, assistant parish priest, while the jubilee souvenir was released by patron Vizoto Seletsu.
