Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Violence: Two FC Personnel Killed, Security Crisis Deepens

Two Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel were gunned down in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, underscoring the rising wave of militant violence in the region. The attack occurred in Kuram Garhi, where the officers, belonging to the FC Daryoba MI platoon, were shopping at a local market when assailants on a motorcycle opened fire and fled. Security forces quickly cordoned off the area, launched a search operation, and deployed additional police to maintain order.

This incident adds to a series of recent assaults on law enforcement in the province. On April 18, unidentified attackers destroyed the Shamuzai police post with explosives, while earlier on April 7, five police personnel were injured in Lakki Marwat after an IED blast targeted their patrol vehicle. Authorities attributed that attack to militants from the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to locally as “Fitna al Khawarij.” According to the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), fatalities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa surged from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025, reflecting the intensifying security crisis. Analysts warn that targeted strikes in districts such as Bannu, Bajaur, and Lakki Marwat highlight the growing challenge for Pakistan’s internal stability.
