Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Tuesday extended greetings to civil servants on the occasion of Civil Services Day, and said their dedication remains the backbone of governance.
The central government celebrates April 21 every year as ‘Civil Services Day’ as an occasion for civil servants to rededicate themselves to the cause of citizens, and renew their commitment to public service and excellence in work.
“On the occasion of National Civil Services Day, I extend my warm greetings to all members of the civil services in Sikkim.
“As Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel described, civil servants are the ‘steel frame of India’. Your dedication remains the backbone of governance, translating policies into real impact for our people,” Tamang said in a post on Facebook.
This date is chosen to commemorate the day when the first Home Minister of Independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, addressed the probationers of Administrative Services Officers in 1947 in Delhi.
“I encourage all officers to uphold the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in public service, ensuring that every action strengthens trust and delivers meaningful outcomes for our citizens.
“I extend my sincere gratitude to every civil servant and together, let us continue building a transparent, responsive, and progressive Sikkim,” Tamang added.
