Wasim Khan will step down as the International Cricket Council’s General Manager (Cricket) at the end of June, concluding a four-year tenure in a key leadership role. He took over the position in May 2022 from Geoff Allardice, who became ICC CEO, and his departure adds to a series of senior-level exits at the governing body.
Before joining the ICC, Khan served as CEO of the Pakistan Cricket Board and earlier led Leicestershire County Cricket Club and the Cricket Foundation. His administrative career followed a playing stint in county cricket during the 1990s, where he became the first British-born Muslim to play professionally, representing Warwickshire, Sussex, and Derbyshire.
At the ICC, Khan oversaw significant challenges, including the congested global cricket calendar driven by franchise leagues. He played a central role in finalizing the 2023–27 Future Tours Programme and introducing the first-ever women’s FTP, a milestone for the women’s game. His exit comes amid wider reshuffles, with Sanjog Gupta replacing Allardice as CEO and other senior officials also leaving their posts.
