A shocking incident in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, saw five members of a family lose their lives within hours. Police said Mohan, a middle-aged man from Venkatakrishna Palem, strangled his wife Harita (33) and mother Chandrakala (65) at their home on Wednesday. Later, he picked up his children Kaushik (14) and Harini (12) from school and went to Vepagunta railway station, where he placed his head on the tracks to die by suicide. The children, attempting to save him, were also crushed under the Egmore-Kacheguda Express.
Police investigations revealed Mohan had no apparent financial or mental health issues, though he had recently settled a small debt with his sister. The killings came to light when Harita’s brother discovered the bodies and alerted authorities. Separate cases have been registered by Narayanavanam police and railway police, with investigations underway to determine the motive behind the murders and suicide. The tragedy has left the local community in shock, highlighting the devastating impact of sudden family violence.
