DC Kohima raises concern over defacement of public property

Deputy Commissioner Kohima B. Henok Buchem has expressed concern over repeated defacement of public property within Kohima town and called upon citizens to take care of public assets.
Speaking to this correspondent, Buchem said public infrastructure including roads, pavements and railings were being frequently damaged and defaced. He informed that flower pots recently installed across the town for beautification were also destroyed by some individuals.
He said an FIR has been lodged and warned that serious action would be taken if the culprit is identified. He stated that the administration was taking the matter seriously, whether it involved roadside railings or items used for beautification, and added that authorities would be actively monitoring such activities. He appealed to citizens of Kohima to take ownership of community assets and cooperate with the district administration to ensure proper upkeep.
It may be noted that the DC had recently issued a public notice cautioning that any individual or group found damaging public property would be liable to restore the same at their own expense or face penal action under Section 325 of BNS and Section 3 of the Nagaland Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 1951.
