Aakash Educational Services Limited (AESL) has announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army to extend educational support and welfare benefits to Army personnel and their families.
The announcement was made during a press conference held on Thursday at AESL’s centre in Dimapur. The agreement aims to benefit serving personnel, veterans, gallantry awardees, disabled soldiers and families of those who lost their lives in service.
Under the MoU, AESL will provide a range of scholarships and academic support to eligible students enrolling in its courses across India.
Key provisions include a 100 per cent waiver on tuition and other fees (excluding registration) for wards of personnel who died in service, full tuition waivers for wards of personnel with over 20 per cent disability and gallantry awardees, and a 20 per cent tuition fee concession for children of serving and retired Army personnel, after adjusting existing scholarships.
The agreement was formally signed between representatives of the Indian Army and AESL’s academic leadership in Delhi last month.
Speaking at the press conference, AESL Dimapur Branch Head Tripurari Singh said the initiative is a tribute to the sacrifices of defence personnel. He noted that while AESL already offers scholarships to the general public through its entrance-based programmes, the MoU creates exclusive benefits for defence families.
“This is a small gesture from our side to honour those who dedicate their lives to the nation,” he said, adding that there is no cap on the number of beneficiaries under the scheme. Singh also informed that AESL has signed similar MoUs with other defence and paramilitary organisations, including the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and is in discussions with additional agencies such as the CISF.
As part of the initiative, AESL will also provide mentoring and counselling support to students, addressing academic and career-related queries through both online and offline platforms.
AESL currently operates a centre in Dimapur and runs integrated school programmes in institutions such as Delhi Public School and Model Higher Secondary School in Kohima.
The company, a leading provider of coaching for competitive exams like NEET and JEE, has a network of over 415 centres across India and more than 400,000 enrolled students.
