Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday pledged that every individual linked to the conspiracy surrounding the R.G. Kar Medical College rape and murder case will be brought to justice if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forms the government in West Bengal next month. Addressing a campaign rally in Panihati, North 24 Parganas, he said no one, regardless of influence, would be spared. The constituency is significant as it is home to the victim’s ancestral residence, and the BJP candidate contesting from Panihati is the victim’s mother, Swapna Debnath.
Modi told the gathering that women in Bengal would “rewrite history” in this election by teaching the ruling Trinamool Congress a lesson for its alleged atrocities against women. He praised the Panihati candidate’s struggle to make her daughter a doctor, saying her loss reflected the “jungle of misrule” under the Trinamool Congress. He assured that accountability would follow after May 4, the day of the results, and reiterated that not a single conspirator would escape justice.
The Prime Minister also accused the Trinamool Congress of being rattled by polling patterns in the first phase of Assembly elections, claiming the party was instigating criminal elements out of desperation. He criticized the state government for failing to provide jobs and investment opportunities, arguing that corruption had driven industries away over the past 15 years. Modi said the BJP would restore investment and employment prospects once in power, contrasting his party’s promises with what he described as the Trinamool’s record of misrule.
