Chuchuyimlang will host the third edition of the Ashipo Society’s Moatsü Mung concert on May 1 at Anü Mai Amphitheater from 6 pm, continuing efforts to use culture as a bridge between the village and its younger generation. The concert will be graced by DUCCF president Zasivikho Zakiesato as special guest
The concert will feature popular artistes Keneisenuo Sorhie and Aseno Metha and will be open to the public with free entry.
This was announced at a press conference addressed by Ashipo Society president Imlinok, general secretary Kaba Jamir, and members Merentoshi and Temsutemjen. The organisers said the initiative aims to promote culture and tradition while providing a platform for young and emerging artistes.
While Moatsü Mung is an annual celebration, the organisers said the initiative, now in its third edition, focuses on uplifting youth and promote grassroots talent. They also expressed hope that it will encourage people, especially those living away from the village, to reconnect through shared cultural spaces. The Ashipo Society, comprising seven core members, is also seeking recognition from institutions such as the Task Force for Music & Arts and the Department of Art and Culture for its role in promoting folk and folk-fusion music. The society further expressed interest in expanding its activities into areas like education and entrepreneurship.
The concert is part of the wider Moatsü celebrations organised by the Chuchuyimlang Village Council and Tourism Committee.
Ahead of the event, the society has launched an online Ao folk song and folk-fusion solo competition with a cash prize of Rs 10,000. Entries close on April 29, and results will be announced on April 30 on their Instagram page. The winner will also get an opportunity to perform at the concert. (Correspondent)
