Lions Club Dimapur Elite leads plastic-free drive

Commemorating Environment Week from April 18 to 26, 2026 the Lions Club of Dimapur Elite organised a two-week social media awareness campaign highlighting the harmful effects of single-use plastic and promoting sustainable alternatives.
A press release from the club informed that the initiative featured a series of impactful activities aimed at engaging the community. The campaign began with the distribution of plastic-free sanitary pads at Nagarjan Basti (Master Colony), where women were also educated on hygiene, health and environmentally sustainable practices.
Further, the club carried out an extensive cloth bag distribution drive, handing out thousands of bags to vendors, hawkers, shopkeepers and passersby across key areas including New Market, Durga Mandir and Church Road. During the drive, the team actively interacted with the public, spreading awareness on reducing plastic usage and encouraging adoption of eco-friendly alternatives.
The initiatives were conducted in the presence of District Governor Lalit Kumar Kothari, DG Elect Dr. Neena Dutta, GST Coordinator Neeta Agarwal and Extension Officer Sandeep Bakliwal.
