Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has forecast continued rainfall activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across the state over the next few days.
In a press release, NSDMA stated that most districts were likely to experience light to moderate rainfall, with thunderstorms and lightning very likely at isolated places on April 28, 2026 with districts such as Peren and Kohima likely to witness heavy rainfall accompanied by gusty winds (30–40 kmph) at isolated locations.
On April 29, 2026, NSDMA has forecast widespread localized thunderstorms and lightning across Nagaland, with moderate to heavy rainfall at scattered locations. Several districts including Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon, Niuland, and Tseminyu could experience intense weather conditions, increasing the likelihood of localized disruptions.
On April 30, 2026, weather activity is expected to gradually ease, with light rainfall at a few places and isolated thunderstorms.
On May 1, 2026, no significant weather warnings are expected over most districts, indicating improvement in conditions.
NSDMA has advised the public to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning events.
People have been advised to avoid open areas, seek safe shelter during lightning, and stay updated with official weather advisories.
