Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence wing in Amritsar has busted a major drug smuggling network connected to a Dubai-based handler, recovering six kilograms of heroin and arresting one accused. The operation was carried out near Adda Manawala on the Amritsar-Jalandhar highway, with officials confirming that the accused was working under the instructions of Antarpreet Singh of Sultanwind, currently based in Dubai and wanted in multiple narcotics cases. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, 1985, and police emphasized that the crackdown reflects their intensified efforts to dismantle foreign-linked drug networks.
The bust comes amid a broader campaign against narcotics in Punjab. Earlier this month, Hoshiarpur Police dismantled an inter-state narcotics and illegal arms module, seizing nearly 10 kg of heroin, foreign-made pistols, magazines, and live cartridges, and arresting four operatives with suspected links to foreign-based gangsters. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav reiterated the state’s commitment to a “drug-free Punjab,” stressing that coordinated intelligence and strong enforcement will continue to target both local operatives and international handlers fueling the drug trade.
