Five villages under Chingkao have expressed serious concern over the attachment of the medical officer (MO) from Primary Health Centre (PHC) Chingkao to Community Health Centre (CHC) Tizit.
In a press release, Chingkao Public Union (CPU) president W Shenpha Wangnao and general secretary S Sheilong warned that absence of MO would severely disrupt essential medical services in the area.
Referring to an order issued by the chief medical officer (CMO) Mon, which temporarily deployed the MO to CHC Tizit, the CPU said that PHC Chingkao has now been left without adequate medical support, especially in the absence of sufficient staff nurses. With a seasonal rise in illnesses currently affecting the region, CPU expressed apprehension that the move would leave the local population without reliable primary healthcare.
The union stated that such an arrangement placed undue hardship on the Chingkao people, who were already facing challenges in accessing timely healthcare facilities.
Acknowledging shortages at other facilities, the five villages of Chingkao have appealed to the responsible authorities to urgently review the decision and ensure PHC Chingkao was not left understaffed.
They also urged the state government to take necessary measures to safeguard public health without compromising services in any area.
