A one-day free oral health awareness, dental and medical camp was conducted at Longwa village on April 30, organised by the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) along with the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP).
The camp was led by Dr. I. Arenla Walling, director (Dental), along with joint director (Dental) & SNO (NOHP) Dr. N. Moangangba Jamir, and deputy director (Dental) & SNO (NTCP) Dr. I. Simon Sumi. The initiative aimed to provide accessible healthcare services to the community, with a special focus on oral cancer screening.
General health check-ups, dental treatments and NCD screening sessions were carried out by a dedicated team of doctors and healthcare workers. Around 250 beneficiaries availed free treatment and medication during the camp.
The programme was assisted by medical personnel including Dr. Nokyat K., MO i/c OST DH Mon; Dr. Shechung, MO UPHC Mon; Dr. Wangmai, DS UPHC Mon; Dr. Esther Chophy, Sr. Dental Surgeon & DNO (NOHP & NTCP) DH Mon; Dr. Lihngam Konyak, Jr. Dental Surgeon DH Mon; Dr. Imtimenla Nokdy, Jr. Dental Surgeon DH Mon; Alang, Pharmacist UPHC Mon; Dr. Tongmeth, Lab Assistant UPHC Mon; Nyemying, Consultant (NTCP) DH Mon; medical staff from Sub-Centre Longwa and ASHAs from Longwa.
The camp provided essential outreach to villagers with limited access to medical facilities, reinforcing the importance of oral health and preventive care.
