Chümoukedima Lotha Hoho hosts Literature Day

Chümoukedima Lotha Hoho commemorated its first-ever Literature Day on May 1 at Chümoukedima Town Council Hall, marking a milestone in promoting and preserving Lotha literary heritage under the theme “Lotha Yi Ji Pvütoka.”
Organised under the aegis of Lotha Hoho, the programme drew a large turnout in celebration of Lotha language, literature and oral traditions.
Dr. Roland Lotha, 1st Class Contractor, social activist and philanthropist, graced the occasion as special guest of honour, while Rev. Dr. Ezamo Murry delivered the keynote address as theme speaker, highlighting the role of literature in cultural preservation.
Exhortations were also delivered by Dr. John Murry, treasurer of Central NPF Nagaland, and Vandanshan Lotha, retd. director, Skill Development and Employment & Entrepreneurship Department.
Competitions showcasing oral traditions featured poem recitation, moral story reading and narration of folktales by elders. The panel of judges included Thungjamo Odyuo, retd. addl. director RD & Director of Gift Ministry; Rev. Yimtsü Yanthan, associate pastor LBCD; and Dr. Eniro Murry, associate professor, department of Political Science, Patkai Christian College.
The programme was further enriched by a cultural performance from Chümoukedima Lotha Eloe Ekhüng Cultural Troupe and a special number by the Lotha Students’ Union, Patkai Christian College.
The organising committee expressed gratitude to all contributors whose support ensured the success of the event. The programme was chaired by Er. Y. Bichamo Khüvüng, Convenor of the Organising Committee, with invocation by N. Thüngchio, Pastor LBCC, welcome address by Shri Nchümthüng Ngullie, Chairman CLH, vote of thanks by Shri N. Khobenthüng Lotha, member secretary, and benediction by Myanthüng Yanthan, Catechist, St. Joseph, Chümoukedima.
