DIMAPUR, MAY 11 (NPN): Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather advisory for May 12-15 based on the latest weather forecasts received.
According to the advisory, light rain and isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning were likely on May 12 in parts of Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng and Mon districts, while most other districts were expected to remain free from major weather warnings.
On May 13, localized thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall were expected over several districts, including Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Peren, Tseminyu, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Mon and Longleng. NSDMA stated that thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall were likely to continue in many districts on May 14, while Longleng district could experience moderate to heavy rainfall at isolated places.
On May 15, scattered intermittent light to moderate rainfall was expected in districts including Kohima, Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Mokokchung, Mon and Tseminyu. Mon district could also experience moderate to heavy intermittent rainfall.
In view of the forecast, NSDMA advised public to remain cautious, while urging residents in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to remain alert for possible waterlogging, flash floods and landslides.
