MOKOKCHUNG, MAY 13 (NPN): The monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Mokokchung district was held on May 13 at the DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Nuklutoshi Longkumer, MLA.
At the meeting, 20 students from the district who excelled in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations 2026 were felicitated. They were handed citations by the MLA.
The DPDB also presented the Cleanest Ward Award under municipality and town councils. The results were as follows:
- Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC): 1st – Alempang ward; 2nd – Salangtem ward; 3rd – Kichutip ward.
- Changtongya Town Council: 1st – PWD ward; 2nd – Church ward.
- Tuli Town Council: 1st – Longpong ward; 2nd – Aitlenden ward.
- Mangkolemba Town Council: 1st – Satihit ward; 2nd – Hokiyong ward.
At the meeting, the board recommended registration of the M.I. Small Tea Growers Cooperative Society, Saringyim, and approved the upgradation of Green Hills Public School, Chuchuyimlang, from middle section to high school.
The house deliberated on preparations for the upcoming 25th edition of the Dr. T. Ao Trophy scheduled for October 2026. Deputy commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, appealed for full cooperation from all departments to ensure the success of the milestone event. He also briefed members on the recent DCs’ conference held in Kohima, urging proper coordination and resource management, while informing that the administration is planning to institute a District Teachers Award to honour educators.
Principal of Fazl Ali College highlighted the institution’s achievements and sought continued support from the board. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by the deputy commissioner.
Earlier, Nuklutoshi inaugurated a new RO water filter at Dr. Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokokchung. The filter was donated through the DPDB Mokokchung Common Pool LADP 2025 26.
Speaking at the brief programme, Nuklutoshi said water is a basic necessity and expressed hope that the installation would benefit the hospital. He assured that more support would be extended from the LADP Common Pool in future and urged hospital authorities to maintain the facility carefully.
Deputy commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma, also addressed the gathering, stating that DPDB has initiated installation of RO water filters at key locations including the district hospital, DC and SP offices, Ao Senden office and a government guest house. He termed the initiative a responsibility of the state to provide basic necessities and expressed gratitude to the DPDB chairman.
