Schedule finalised for SIRof electoral rolls in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, MAY 15 (NPN): A day after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the conduct of a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in 16 states and three Union Territories, including Nagaland, the chief electoral officer (CEO) Nagaland informed that schedule for SIR Phase-III in Nagaland has been finalized keeping in view the common field machinery engaged in the ongoing house listing exercise for the Census.
In a press release, CEO Nagaland Bhagyashree Banayat stated that SIR would be a participative exercise involving electors, political parties and election officials. CEO has requested all political parties to appoint booth level agents (BLAs) for every polling booth to ensure transparency and active participation throughout the revision process.
CEO said qualifying date for the Special Intensive Revision in Nagaland has been fixed as October 1, 2026.
As per the schedule, preparation, training and printing activities will be carried out from August 5-14, while house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will take place from August 16 to September 14.
Rationalization of polling stations is scheduled to be completed by September 14, followed by publication of the draft electoral roll on September 20.
The period for filing claims and objections would remain open from September 20 to October 20, while the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections would continue until November 18.
The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on November 22, 2026.
