IMD forecast rainfall in NE

DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (NPN): India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over North East region during the week.
In its bulletin, the Met department predicted that scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) was likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on May 17.
India Meteorological Department also stated that isolated heavy rainfall was likely over Arunachal Pradesh on May 17 and during May 20-22; Assam & Meghalaya during May 17-18 and on May 21 & 22; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura on May 21 & 22.
Meanwhile, IMD informed that southwest monsoon has advanced into some parts of southeast Arabian Sea, southwest and southeast Bay of Bengal, many parts of Andaman Sea, entire Nicobar Islands and some parts of Andaman Islands including Sri Vijaya Puram on May 16, 2026.
It stated that southwest monsoon was likely to set in over Kerala on May 26 with a model error of ± 4 days.
