DIMAPUR: Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA), in collaboration with Peren District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) and the district administration, conducted a Mini Legal Services Camp at Peren Town on May 16.
Addressing the gathering, DC, Peren, Hiazu Meru emphasized the need for upliftment and improvement in the sectors of education, health and economy in the district. Highlighting the NER District SDG Index, he urged various departments, organisations and the general public to work collectively for the betterment of the district.
In his address, NJS district & sessions judge-cum-chairman, PDLSA, N Longsithung Ezung highlighted the importance and significance of Article 39(A) of the Indian Constitution, which was inserted through the 42nd Amendment.
NJS member secretary, Neiko Akami, while delivering the keynote address, spoke on the activities undertaken by NSLSA and DLSAs across Nagaland in providing competent legal aid services to indigent persons. He also encouraged the public to take initiative in resolving cases through Lok Adalat.
The programme was chaired by chief LADC, PDLSA Lhingneinem Hangshing, and vote of thanks by NJS chief judicial magistrate cum secretary PDLSA, Khievono Seletsu.
As part of the Mini Legal Services Camp, various departments under Peren district set up stalls showcasing departmental schemes, products and public awareness initiatives. Key services provided during the camp included free legal aid services, Aadhaar registration and correction, and digital birth certificate registration and correction.
