DIMAPUR: The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Wokha, convened a monsoon preparedness meeting at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha on May 19, to review readiness measures ahead of the rainy season.
Addressing the meeting, DC Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao, emphasized the importance of early preparedness. He highlighted the need to assess the availability of essential commodities such as food grains, LPG, fuel, and medicines, as well as the condition of roads and infrastructure across the district.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting also discussed in detail the availability of food grains, fuel, LPG, and essential drugs, along with the maintenance of National Highways, State, and District roads. Specific concerns were also discussed regarding the NH-2 Doyang land sinking areas, drainage clearance in Wokha and Bhandari towns, and the status of construction works including culverts and retaining walls. Preparedness measures related to the Doyang River Dam were also deliberated. As part of the initiative and preparedness, a mass social work will be conducted across Wokha district on May 23.
