Census training for Field Trainers begins in Kohima

DIMAPUR: A three-day mandatory training programme for Field Trainers under Census of India 2027 commenced on Wednesday at the Commissioner’s Circuit House, Kohima, with participants from Kohima, Tseminyu, Wokha and Zunheboto districts.
According to DIPR report, SDO (Civil) Sadar, Er. Seyiekhrietuo Solo, said the Census exercise went beyond mere head counting and had far-reaching impact on the developmental landscape of the State. Referring to gaps in the 2001 and 2011 Census, he stressed on accuracy and sincerity in the upcoming exercise to ensure better planning and development. He highlighted the crucial role of Field Trainers in training enumerators and urged participants to actively engage with resource persons and continue exchanging ideas even after the training.
Additional District Census Officer and Training Coordinator, Dr. Riku Khutso, in his opening remarks, informed that the programme marked the first phase of training for Field Trainers, who would subsequently train enumerators and supervisors in their districts. He said the Census would be conducted through a full-scale digital operation, with self-enumeration beginning prior to July.
ADCO, directorate of Census Operations, Mhathung Kithan, thanked the district administration for hosting the training and informed that unlike previous exercises, Census 2027 would involve a five-level training structure to ensure uniform transfer of concepts and technical knowledge. He described the Census as one of the world’s largest administrative exercises, stressing that accurate data was critical for policy implementation, economic planning and nation building.
Altogether, 36 Field Trainers are participating in the programme. The Master Trainers are Tosovil Niekha, Associate Professor, Kohima Science College, and Temjensunep from the Directorate of Census Operations.
