DIMAPUR, MAY 21 (NPN): Tikvah Healthcare Private Limited, in collaboration with Amrita Hospital, organised a multi-specialty medical camp at Dimapur Lotha Baptist Church on Thursday, providing diagnostic and consultation services to more than 350 patients.
The camp brought together five super-specialists from Amrita Hospital, including a Gastroenterologist, Neuro-surgeon, Medical oncologist, orthopaedic & Joint Replacement and Nephrologist. A team of dentists from Dimapur Dental Clinic also provided oral healthcare services.
Addressing the media, director of Tikvah Healthcare Private Limited, Benthungo Kithan, said the initiative was guided by the organisation’s vision of making healthcare accessible and affordable on compassionate grounds. He stated that the collaboration with Amrita Hospital was based on a shared commitment to patient-centric care.
Kithan informed that diagnostic services such as ultrasound and FibroScan for liver assessment were also made available during the camp, with support from equipment contributions by Samsung and Fourrts India Laboratories Pvt Ltd.
He said the objective of the camp extended beyond the distribution of medicines, with emphasis placed on thorough diagnosis and understanding patients’ health concerns. According to him, the initiative formed part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, with plans to organise one medical camp annually.
He noted that the first such camp was held at Civil Secretariat in 2025, and similar outreach programmes were expected to be expanded to other communities in and around Dimapur annually.
With turnout expected to exceed 300 patients, Kithan informed that the organisers were prepared to extend service hours beyond the scheduled 9 am to 2 pm, depending on the availability and endurance of medical teams.
Meanwhile, an awareness programme was also conducted alongside the medical camp. Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Vidit Kapoor, delivered a session on cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment in the 21st century.
He highlighted common types of cancer, associated risk factors, warning signs, and recent advancements in diagnosis and treatment.
Emphasising prevention, he underscored the dangers of tobacco use, stating that it is responsible for nearly 90% of lung cancers and head and neck cancers, as well as a significant proportion of deaths due to emphysema.
Dr. Kapoor also elaborated on the “C.A.U.T.I.O.N.” warning signs of cancer, which include changes in bowel or bladder habits, non-healing sores, unusual bleeding, lumps or thickening, persistent indigestion, changes in moles, and chronic cough or hoarseness.
Other specialists also addressed a range of health issues during the awareness sessions, whereby, senior consultant and head of Nephrology, Dr. Urmila Anandh, spoke on early screening and detection of chronic kidney disease, Neurosurgeon Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam discussed stroke-related conditions, paralysis, nerve disorders, and head injuries, Gastroenterology, Dr Ishaan Hriday Dabrari, highlighted digestive and liver-related ailments, including alcohol-related diseases and hepatitis, while orthopaedic specialist Dr. Archit Goyal covered bone and joint disorders, arthritis, mobility issues, and joint replacement options.
