DIMAPUR: The three-day Spring Market Affair, curated by Petals & Pearls in collaboration with the Silviculture Division under the Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, commenced on May 21, 2026 at the State Botanical Garden, New Ministers’ Hill, Kohima.
The programme was chaired by Range Forest Officer, Silviculture Range, Kohima, Florence T. Sangtam, who also delivered the welcome address. She highlighted the event as a celebration of nature, sustainability and community participation.
Guest of honour, Conservator of Forests (RP & U), Lhinghoikim Touthang, described the Botanical Garden as a “living library of plants” that promotes biodiversity conservation, environmental education and public awareness.
She emphasized the importance of gardening and creative hobbies in reducing stress, encouraging healthier lifestyles and supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing team, Kenei Mor said the event celebrates creativity, culture, local entrepreneurship and community collaboration by bringing together artisans, entrepreneurs and workshop facilitators on a common platform.
The Spring Market Affair features plants, flowers, handcrafted products, food stalls, floral and lifestyle displays, artisanal shopping and creative workshops including soap making, decoupage, bonsai making, floral arrangement and gift wrapping.
