DIMAPUR: Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) held a consultative meeting with the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) and Child Helpline 1098 at the Department of Social Welfare, DCPU Office, Mokokchung, on Friday.
The meeting focused on strengthening coordination to address pressing child-related concerns in the district, including bullying in schools, child abuse cases, teacher-student conflicts, misconduct in educational institutions and problems faced by students in hostels.
Representatives from AKM and DCPU underscored the need for a collaborative approach involving student bodies, schools, parents and child protection agencies.
Officials from Child Helpline 1098 also shared insights on the nature of calls received and stressed the importance of early intervention.
Participants agreed to chart a joint way forward with emphasis on awareness programmes, timely reporting of cases and stricter monitoring of hostels and schools. AKM reaffirmed its commitment to work with concerned departments to ensure a safer environment for children in Mokokchung.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to hold regular consultations and build stronger networks for child protection in the district.
