DIMAPUR: The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Nagaland, has apologised for a spelling error in the name of the Khiamniungan tribe in the Nagaland Heritage Studies (Alternative English) Class 8 textbook.
In a letter addressed to the president of Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU), Noklak, SCERT stated that the tribe’s name was mistakenly printed as “Khiamniungam” instead of “Khiamniungan.” The council acknowledged the error and described it as unintentional despite efforts made during the preparation and review of the textbook.
SCERT stated that textbooks served as important learning resources for students and admitted that such mistakes could create confusion and inconvenience. The council assured that corrective measures would be taken to prevent similar errors in future publications.
SCERT also appreciated the observations and feedback provided regarding the mistake and expressed regret over the oversight while seeking cooperation and understanding from the concerned parties.
