ANCSU serves 20-day ultimatum on govt to start KSC hostel project

DIMAPUR, MAY 26 (NPN): All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) has served a 20-day ultimatum on the state government to immediately commence construction of the proposed 100-bedded girls’ hostel at Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma, and safeguard the sanctioned CSR fund, warning of democratic protest if no action was taken within the stipulated period.
In an ultimatum addressed to the state chief secretary, ANCSU president Kivika Yeptho and general secretary Sotilo Tep expressed “grave concern and strong dissatisfaction” over the prolonged delay in execution of the project despite approval of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding amounting to Rs. 3,52,68,650.
ANCSU stated that the first instalment of Rs. 1,05,80,595 was released on April 12, 2023, but alleged that the project had remained completely stagnant since then. Further, the union expressed alarm over reports that the funding agency had initiated proceedings for refund of the sanctioned amount due to failure of the concerned authorities to commence and implement the project within the stipulated timeframe.
Therefore, the union has urged the state government to immediately safeguard the sanctioned CSR fund and begin construction of the hostel within the approved amount. ANCSU cautioned warned that failure to take action within the stipulated 20 days would compel the union and the student community to launch “befitting democratic protest” in the interest of higher education and student welfare in the state.
