Dhansiri Under Threat

Sir,

Each morning, the residents of Kushiabill Sector 4 are greeted by the persistent rumble of trucks transporting sand and soil from the banks of the Dhansiri River. It appears as though the river’s resources are being exploited without limit.
However, the river is already demonstrating its vulnerability. Portions of the land are gradually eroding, and with each passing day, there is increasing apprehension that the livelihoods of the community may vanish along with the soil.
Should this unregulated mining persist, the resulting damage could soon become irreparable. It is imperative that the relevant authorities intervene promptly, before the consequences of inaction become too severe for both the community and the river to overcome.
Sincerely,
H. Jeong, Kushiabill, Dimapur
