Adolescence awareness at St. John’s HSS

DIMAPUR: St. John’s Higher Secondary School, Diphupar B, conducted an awareness programme on the theme “Adolescence for a Safer Tomorrow” to equip students with essential knowledge and life skills. The event was coordinated by the school’s Health & Wellness Committee.
Principal Johny Abraham informed that Community Health Officer Sibenya Rengma from the Health Department spoke on physical and emotional changes, nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention and hygiene, encouraging students to make informed decisions and seek guidance from trusted adults and professionals.
Wobeni Ezung, supervisor of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, delivered a session on preventing dengue and malaria.
The programme also featured a poster making competition for Classes 7 to 11 on themes such as peer pressure, digital safety, healthy relationships and self esteem, along with skits addressing bullying, stress and responsible social media use.
Principal Abraham lauded the initiative, stating that such programmes help students become informed and confident.
The event concluded with a student pledge to make healthy choices and support one another, while winners of the poster competition were felicitated.
