Thenyizu village installs new council for 2026–31

DIMAPUR: Thenyizu village under Phek district installed a new team of the Village Council for the tenure 2026–31 during an installation programme held at the Panchayat Hall on May 21.
The programme was led by chairman of the Planning & Vision Cell (PVC), Chisazo Dawhuo, with invocation by catechist of St. Andrew Church, Theduseyi Poru. Senior pastor of Thenyizu Christian Revival Church, Rev. Veshoseyi Rhakho, exhorted the gathering and prayed for the new leadership.
The declaration of the new leaders was made by nomination committee secretary Theyehuyi Dawhuo and PVC secretary Vesekho Thisa, while the oath was administered by head GB Vepozoyi Theyo. The oldest male of the village, Zasehu Theyo, pronounced a prayer for the new team and the village.
The new council will be led by Zhothiyi Dawhuo as chairman, Zacusa Thisa as VDB secretary, Vevo Resu as council secretary, and Vezovo Swuro as common treasurer. Sub‑committee chairmen include Nesazo Theyo (Power/Electricity), Verhayi Swuro (Village Education/School Managing Committee), Veseta Swuro (Health), Cükhuduyi Dawhuo (WATSAN), Kethoswü Dawhuo (JCB & Council Vehicle), and Vethikho Ngoi (Ration Distribution).
The programme was attended by clan chairmen, leaders of Thenyimi Youth Social Welfare Organisation (TYSWO), Thenyizumi Students’ Union (TSU), Thenyizumi Women Society (TWS), church leaders and elders of the village.
