KOHIMA, MAY 29 (NPN): Department of Power, Nagaland on Friday bid farewell to retiring Chief Engineer (Transmission & Generation), Er Kasho Chishi, during a programme held at the Conference Hall, Electricity House, Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, principal secretary, Power & Chief Minister’s Office, Dr. K.D. Vizo, ITS, described Er Chishi as a dynamic and highly capable officer whose retirement would be a great loss to the department. Recalling that they were classmates at Science College, Dr. Vizo said he was fortunate to have worked alongside Er Chishi in the department after he got deputed to Nagaland, though he wished their association had lasted longer.
In his farewell speech, Er Kasho Chishi reflected on his 33 years and 10 months of service in the department, stating that when he joined the department as a 26-year-old, he had never imagined how deeply the journey would shape his life and career. He thanked Almighty God for His grace and guidance throughout his years of service and expressed gratitude to colleagues, officers, staff and his family for their support.
Er Chishi stated that the Power Department carried immense technical, commercial and public service responsibilities, adding that the department’s duty was not only to provide reliable power supply but also to efficiently manage and plan for future growth of the sector. He stressed the need for sincerity, dedication, discipline and adaptability among officers and staff. Engineer-in-Chief (Power), Er Wabangmeren Jamir, in his address, said the programme was not only to bid farewell to Er Chishi but also to celebrate the contributions of a person who had played a major role in the growth of power transmission in the state. He credited Er Chishi’s perseverance, sincerity and dedication for significantly contributing to the overall development of the power sector in Nagaland and wished him a fulfilling retired life.
Chief Engineer (Distribution & Revenue), Er Nitovi A. Wotsa, stated that along with Er Chishi, 13 officers had joined the department during 1992-93 and would all soon be retiring. Er Wotsa said Er Chishi had shouldered the burden of the department for many years and highlighted his contributions in computerisation of the Kohima Electrical Division.
President, Association of Power Engineers Nagaland, Er Mhonlumo Kikon said Er Chishi had actively served the association in various capacities and was one of the key persons behind the cadre review exercise during his tenure as general secretary. Er Kikon described him as a leader who led from the front and guided both colleagues and subordinates, while expressing hope that he would continue to guide the association even after retirement.
Short speeches were also delivered by Er Chishi’s two children. The programme also featured a special number presented by Renthungo Tungoe and party. Thanksgiving prayer was pronounced by lead pastor, Thilixu Village Baptist Church, Rev. Dr. Hokheto Chophi, while vote of thanks was delivered by additional chief engineer, Er Anthony N. Dzüvichü.
