He will attend as part of the Global Shapers Community youth delegation, an initiative of the WEF. Out of 60 young representatives chosen worldwide, Thungchibemo is among only seven delegates representing South Asia.
Popularly known as the “Summer Davos,” the Annual Meeting of the New Champions is one of WEF’s flagship gatherings, bringing together leaders from government, business, academia and civil society to deliberate on pressing global economic and technological challenges. The 2026 edition, themed “Innovating at Scale,” will see participation of more than 1,500 leaders and innovators. Key issues to be discussed include economic growth, artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, youth employment, workforce transformation, climate and energy systems, and China’s role in shaping global industries.
Speaking on his selection, Thungchibemo said it was an honour to represent Nagaland, Northeast India and South Asia on a global platform. “Communities at the grassroots hold valuable perspectives on resilience, innovation, culture and sustainable development, and I hope to contribute those voices to global conversations shaping the future,” he stated.
