DSSU opposes shifting of Hindi Institute; backs DNSU

DIMAPUR: Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has extended support to Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) in opposing the proposed shifting of the Government Hindi Institute, Dimapur from its present location at Oriental Colony, Dimapur.
In a press release, DSSU president Kiyeka V. Assumi and general secretary Atono V. Swu stated that the institute has long served as an important centre of higher education, contributing significantly to the academic, social and economic development of the community. They cautioned that relocating the institution would create unnecessary hardships for students, particularly those from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and adversely affect accessibility to quality education.
DSSU maintained that the existing location provides a conducive environment for academic growth and community engagement. It urged that instead of shifting, efforts should be directed toward strengthening infrastructure, facilities and educational services at the current site. The union appealed to the authorities to reconsider and immediately halt any relocation plans, while calling upon all stakeholders to safeguard the interests of students and ensure the continued development of the institute at its present location.
DSSU affirmed its commitment to support all lawful and democratic efforts to protect the future of the institute and its students.
