DIMAPUR: The four-day workshop on “PARAKH Taxonomy and Development of Competency-Based Question Bank for ITMS” organised by Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Kohima in collaboration with PARAKH-NCERT, Delhi commenced on Tuesday at NBSE headquarters.
According to DIPR report, delivering the welcome address, Rangumbuing Nsarangbe, secretary & chairperson (Addl. Charge) NBSE, highlighted that the NEP 2020 has set the direction for change in the education system while the NCF 2023 has begun to translate it.
He noted that PARAKH has provided two key instruments—the Holistic Progress Card and the Taxonomy guidelines for balanced question papers—adding that the workshop would focus on the latter.
He appreciated PARAKH for its guidance and the partnership built over the past two years.
A keynote address was delivered virtually by Prof. Indrani Bhaduri, CEO & Head, PARAKH, who explained that the structured assessment taxonomy represents a pivotal shift in India’s school education system.
She said the taxonomy moves beyond rote learning, organizing learning across domains from foundational understanding to higher-order skills such as analysis, evaluation and creation.
She emphasized that competency-based question papers designed under this framework explicitly map competencies and cognitive levels, while linking seamlessly with formative assessment through the Holistic Progress Card.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Siduniu Rentta, Assistant Academic Officer NBSE, with invocation pronounced by Dziesevolie Tsürho, Academic Officer NBSE.
Altogether 73 teachers from across Nagaland are participating in the workshop, which will continue till June 5.
