NVA conducts volleyball equipment distribution drive in Chümoukedima

DIMAPUR, Jun 2 (NPN): The Nagaland Volleyball Association (NVA), in collaboration with the global humanitarian movement Art of Giving (AOG), organized a volleyball sports goods and items distribution programme on June 2, at Hotel Paramount, Chümoukedima. The initiative, themed “Share to Shine through Voluntarism”, aimed to promote grassroots volleyball and empower youth through sports.
Sponsored and donated by Art of Giving, founded by Prof. Achyuta Samanta, the programme provided essential volleyball equipment including balls and nets to district units affiliated with NVA. The distribution sought to overcome barriers faced by young athletes in remote areas and strengthen training opportunities for state and national-level competitions.
NVA president Visasilie Suhu expressed gratitude to the philanthropic organization, stating, “We are grateful to Art of Giving for this generous support. Quality equipment is often a barrier for young talent in remote areas. This donation will help our players train better and prepare for state and national level tournaments. ‘Share to Shine’ truly reflects the spirit of sports – when we give, we all rise together.”
Highlighting the philosophy of Art of Giving, Suhu noted its foundation on the timeless Indian value of daan (joy of giving), with the theme “Neighbour Good – Bringing Good to the Neighbourhood” inspiring communities to unite through voluntarism. Now in its 12th edition, Art of Giving engages over 2.5 million active members worldwide and has representation in more than 220 national federations under FIVB.
The programme was attended by NVA officials, District Sports Council representatives, coaches and players. It concluded with the distribution of volleyballs and nets, with NVA reaffirming its commitment to developing volleyball at the grassroots and creating opportunities for youth across Nagaland.
Following the distribution, NVA convened a marathon meeting with its officials and executives, where it was decided to declare the Inter-District Volleyball Tournament 2026, scheduled for November 2026, to be hosted by one of the district units.
