Satakhami Union Dimapur Hq completes first district tour

DIMAPUR: Satakhami Union Dimapur HQ has completed its first-ever district tour, covering 34 villages across the Western Sümi areas of Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland districts. The three-month outreach, held from March to May 2026, was launched under the leadership of president Bokato Zhimomi and the current office bearers.
According to a press release from the Union’s media cell, the tour marked a historic milestone in its 33-year journey since establishment in 1993, being the first sustained and organised programme aimed at strengthening bonds among Satakha people in the Western Sümi region. The initiative sought to protect shared identity, promote unity and foster social and cultural advancement of the Sümi and wider Naga community.
During the outreach, the Union engaged in constructive dialogue and cultural exchange with village chiefs, Kukami and elders. Altogether, 34 villages were visited, while eight more will be covered after the monsoon season to complete the programme. President Bokato Zhimomi stated that the tour was designed to deepen relationships among Satakha people and with other Sümi and Naga communities. “We ask Satakha people to be ambassadors of peace and unity, to uphold the roots of our forefathers, and to carry forward their legacy for a progressive society,” he said.
The Union expressed gratitude to village chiefs, Kukami, elders and community leaders for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to programmes that foster cultural pride, communal harmony and socio-cultural development across the Western Sümi region.
