AR undertake medical camp, yoga session and tobacco awareness

DIMAPUR: Continuing its outreach and welfare initiatives across Nagaland, the Assam Rifles recently organised a series of programmes focusing on healthcare, youth engagement and awareness.
At Mon district, a medical camp was conducted for residents of Yangkhao and neighbouring villages Obey, Tamkoang and Pessao, providing medical consultations, health check-ups and medicines for various ailments. Awareness on healthy lifestyle practices, dietary habits and preventive healthcare was also imparted, benefiting 192 villagers. The initiative reinforced Assam Rifles’ commitment to community welfare and providing essential healthcare support in remote areas.
In Kohima, as part of the nationwide observance leading up to the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, Assam Rifles organised a Yoga Session at Little Flower Higher Secondary School on June 1. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from 70 girl students, three teachers and troops, who were guided through yoga postures and breathing exercises aimed at enhancing concentration, flexibility and overall wellness. The session encouraged the younger generation to adopt yoga as a way of life, promoting harmony, discipline and holistic health. Participants appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles in fostering health awareness and strengthening bonds with the local community.
Meanwhile, at Ghaspani Garrison, Assam Rifles observed World No Tobacco Day on May 31 by conducting multiple lectures for troops, students of Assam Rifles Public School, Medziphema and families. The programme, attended by 180 troops along with children and family members, aimed to create awareness on the harmful effects of tobacco consumption and encourage a healthy, tobacco-free lifestyle. Resource persons from the Brahma Kumaris Medical Wing, Rajyoga Education and Research Foundation delivered lectures highlighting the adverse health impacts of tobacco, while stressing self-discipline, positive thinking and stress management as tools to overcome addiction. The interactive session inspired participants to commit to a tobacco-free lifestyle and become ambassadors of health within their communities.
