DNRE organises competitions on ‘Climate Action’

DIMAPUR: As part of the pre-campaign activities under Mission LiFE in commemoration of World Environment Day 2026, the Department of New & Renewable Energy (DNRE), Kohima, organised Essay Writing, Slogan Writing and Drawing Competitions for high school students on the theme “Climate Action” at the Directorate of NRE, Kohima on June 2.
According to DIPR report, delivering the keynote address, director Er. James Khala stressed the importance of protecting the environment and preserving natural resources amid increasing developmental activities. He urged students to take an active role in safeguarding the planet for future generations.
In the Slogan Writing Competition, Anguni Nagi of Baptist Mission School, Jotsoma secured first prize, followed by Neisavono Nagi of the same school in second place. Chozi Rose of Oking Christian School and Muluseto Swuro of Alderville Higher Secondary School shared the third prize.
In the Drawing Competition, Ketoubi Semo of Baptist Mission School won first prize, while Thejaser Sano secured second and Suman Teron of Alderville Higher Secondary School bagged third.
In the Essay Competition, Neilakieü Miachieo of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Kohima won first prize, followed by Kethoseno Nakhro of Alderville Higher Secondary School in second place, while Thejasier Nagi of Baptist Mission School stood third.
Altogether six schools participated in the event. Joint director Lhuobeizo Kesiyie invoked God’s blessings, while additional director Er. Inaho P. Awomi welcomed the participants. Deputy director Neizeno Peseyie briefed the students on competition guidelines.
Prizes were distributed to the winners, and the programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by joint director Er. Renilo Nuh.
