DIMAPUR: In an initiative towards promoting girls’ education and empowerment, the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima B. Henok Buchem, has announced a scholarship fund of Rs. 2 lakhs under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme for meritorious girl students of Kohima district.
According to a DIPR report, under the scholarship scheme titled “Educate Her, Empower Her”, twenty deserving girl students will receive financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 each. The initiative aims to recognize academic excellence among girls and support their educational aspirations.
The scholarship is open to female students who are permanent residents of Kohima district and have passed Class X or Class XII examinations in 2026 with 60 percent and above marks. Preference will be given to students from economically weaker sections, orphan or single-parent households and differently-abled students.
Applicants are required to submit a duly filled application form along with supporting documents, including mark sheets, PRC/residential certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card or valid ID proof and passport-size photographs. The annual family income of applicants should not exceed Rs. 1.5 lakh.
Selection of beneficiaries will be based on academic merit, socio-economic background and verification by the District Level Selection Committee.
