DIMAPUR: Dimapur Lotha Students’ Union (DLSU) hosted its 11th Academic Excellency Award at Lotha Hoho Ki on Saturday under the theme “Nurturing Dreams, Recognising Support.”
On the occasion, Eyilo Kikon, who secured the highest percentage (94%) in the HSLC examination, received the Late Sanchisao Lotha family award. Mhashan N. Ezung, Yampothung Michael Jami and Mhonjan Ezung were conferred the Late Rhanlamo Lotha family award (HSSLC Science stream), while Yilobemo Kikon received the Tsenthungo Nyamo Lotha award (HSSLC Commerce stream). There was no candidate for the Late Nyamo Lotha family award (HSSLC Arts stream).
Christ School Ekhyo Yan was also honoured for achieving 100% results in HSLC examination 2026. Subject toppers and merit students were also felicitated during the programme.
Gracing the event as special guest, Er. Orenvungo S. Ovung, SDO Electrical Sub Division, Dimapur, reminded students that perseverance and hard work were essential to achieve , their goals. He urged them to remain consistent, put God first, and create their own “recipe” for success.
Theme speaker Dr. Meripeni Ngully, retired vice principal of Dimapur Government College, said dreams are the seed of the future and distinguished between distant and active dreams. She stressed that perseverance, dedication and hard effort were needed to achieve them, citing examples of individuals who overcame hardships to succeed. She also highlighted the vital role of parents in nurturing children’s talents and providing a supportive environment.
Marian Yaden, secretary of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), shared guidelines on pet and street dog care as part of awareness. Greetings were delivered by representatives from Dimapur Lotha Hoho, Dimapur Eloe Ekhung, Dimapur Lotha Youth Organisation and Lotha Students’ Union.
The programme featured a welcome address by DLSU president Mhonbemo M. Kikon, special numbers by DLCU choir and Sendeno Yanthan, and a brief history of the sponsors read by Chandenon Tsanglao. Invocation was offered by Dr. Y. Thunglanbemo Ezung, Missionary at Lareg; blessing prayer by N. Benlanthung Yanthan; vote of thanks by Chenio A. Kithan and benediction by Echungthung Kithan.
