5.6 quake jolts Bhutan; tremors felt in NE region

DIMAPUR, JUN 7 (NPN): A strong earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale struck near Bhutan’s capital Thimphu late Sunday night, sending tremors across parts of the North East, including Nagaland.
According to the Earthquake Alerts System, the quake occurred around 11:06 p.m., with its epicentre located about 19 km away from Thimphu. Tremors were felt across several areas of the North East, including parts of Assam and Nagaland.
Buildings and structures shook for a few seconds, causing panic among residents.
However, no reports of casualties or major damage to property had been received till the time of filing this report.
The earthquake’s impact was reportedly felt in Bhutan, India, Nepal, Bangladesh and China.
