CBPs for export promotion held at Kohima, Peren

DIMAPUR: Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) North Eastern Region, in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Government of Nagaland, organised capacity building programmes (CBPs) for export promotion of horticulture produce at Kohima and Peren districts on June 5 and 6 respectively.
At Kohima, the programme focused on King Chilli, Kiwi, Persimmon and Orange, and was chaired by R. Chumben Patton, Assistant Horticulture Officer (AHO). In his opening remarks, Patton emphasized harnessing the export potential of locally grown crops and encouraged farmers to explore market expansion through processing, value addition and export.
The event was attended by Mhasizotuo Yashii, Horticulture Inspector, Neichiinuo, Horticulture Extension Assistant (HEA), Medolenuo Dzuvichu, HEA, Kenongozo Zao, HEA, Medoneinuo Semou, Field Consultant, Joydev Roy, Business Development Manager (BDM), APEDA NER, exporter Rajeev Medhi of M/s Jingshai Enterprises, Guwahati, and farmers from Western Angami Organic FPC and Seiyhazou King Chilli Farmers Interest Group (FIG). A total of 91 participants attended the programme.
Joydev Roy delivered a detailed presentation on APEDA products, its role in export promotion, documentation process, financial assistance schemes, and demonstrated IEC & RCMC registration via the DGFT portal. Exporter Rajeev Medhi shared his experience in exports from the North East, highlighting key aspects of handling consignments from farm to customs including harvesting, pre cooling and packaging.
Participants were also guided to subscribe to APEDA’s social media platforms, with around 16 participants following via QR code during the programme.
At Peren, the programme focused on export promotion of agriculture and horticulture produce of Nagaland, focusing on King Chilli, Ginger and Turmeric.
According to a press release, Joydev Roy, Business Development Manager (BDM), APEDA Regional Office, NER, delivered a detailed presentation on products under APEDA, its role in export promotion, documentation process, financial assistance schemes, and demonstrated IEC & RCMC registration via the DGFT portal.
Dr. Prashant Kalal, SMS, KVK–Peren, interacted with participants and spoke on pre and post harvest management of horticultural products. He encouraged farmers to explore avenues for expanding market reach through processing and export, while advising them on export procedures, packaging standards, selection of quality produce and schemes available under APEDA.
The programme aimed to create awareness among stakeholders on APEDA’s role in exports, opportunities from the region, quality and packaging standards, and required documentation.
The session was chaired by District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Dileu Nsarangbe, with opening remarks delivered by Horticulture Inspector, Izaile Kulimbe.
