District Task Force on Immunization meets in Mokokchung

DIMAPUR: District Task Force on Immunization (DTFI) held its meeting on June 19 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of ADC Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling.
Dr. Limanaro, DPO (UIP & RCH), highlighted preparations for the upcoming National Immunization Day and Pulse Polio Immunization Programme scheduled for June 28. She informed that children aged 0–5 years would receive polio vaccine at designated booths, while house to house visits by health workers, ASHAs and AWWs would be conducted from June 29–30 under supervisor monitoring. A total of 186 polio booths will be manned by health workers and volunteers.
She also stressed on the ongoing “Stop Diarrhoea Campaign” with the slogan “Stop Diarrhoea–Save Lives” till July 31, aiming to achieve zero child deaths due to diarrhoea through high coverage of ORS and Zinc usage. Challenges highlighted included awareness on diarrhoea management, safe drinking water, clean toilets, sanitation and waste management, which require stakeholder support.
Presenting the status of HPV vaccination, the DPO urged members to motivate eligible beneficiaries to avail the vaccine.
Dr. M.A.H. Azhar, SMO WHO, presented updates on global wild poliovirus (2018–2026), VPD surveillance and routine immunization.
Chairing the meeting, ADC Atsungba Walling called upon allied departments, stakeholders and NGOs to coordinate for successful implementation of the NID programme. He emphasized the use of publicity, miking and social media for wider dissemination and encouraged cooperation with the Health & Family Welfare department in implementing national programmes.
