Agartala, Jun 19 (PTI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Friday said the Centre has approved the state government’s proposal to establish a government ayurvedic medical college and hospital at Udaipur in Gomati district.
The proposal has been cleared by the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) under the Ministry of AYUSH. The institution will have an intake capacity of 60 seats from the 2026-27 academic session, he said.
“I am delighted to share that the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine under the Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has accepted our application for the establishment of the Tripura Government Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital at Udaipur with an intake capacity of 60 seats from the academic session 2026-27,” Saha said in a social media post.
The chief minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting healthcare and medical education in the state.
“This landmark achievement will significantly enhance Ayurvedic education, promote traditional systems of medicine and create new opportunities for aspiring students in Tripura while improving healthcare services for our people,” he said.
Tripura currently has three medical colleges, including one fully government-run institution, offering a total of around 500 MBBS seats.
