DIMAPUR: Weavers’ Service Centre (WSC), Dimapur, organised a distribution programme of looms, weaving accessories and lighting units under the Hathkargha Samvardhan Sahayata (HSS) Scheme sponsored by the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, at Toluvi Village Council Hall on June 24.
At the programme, 300 beneficiaries received looms, accessories and lighting units.
The event was graced by Advisor for Industries & Commerce, Hekani Jakhalu, as special guest. Distribution was carried out in the presence of Biswajit Das, Assistant Director (P)/HoO, WSC Dimapur, and Chikuotho Nyusou, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, Jakhalu emphasized the importance of strengthening the handloom sector and encouraged beneficiaries to make effective use of the equipment to enhance productivity and improve livelihoods. She also appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Textiles and WSC Dimapur in supporting the weaving community.
The distribution is expected to boost production capacity of weavers and contribute to the growth of the handloom sector in the region.
